Why dedicate a page completely to gymnasts and their wonderful sport? Because gymnastics is
such a beautiful sport, and the athletes work incredibly hard to maintain a high
level of difficulty, and, it's pretty groovy to watch, too (especially when you
know what you're looking at). I used to not know the difference between a
Yurchenko and a Tsukahara, but now, I'm very good at watching the sport. Plus, it's not
something that everyone can do. I mean, when was the last ime you said you did a
Yurchenko-half-on-pike-front-with-a-half-twist or a whip through to an immediate double-full
to a full-twisting Shushunova? Did you know that all the gymnasts on the 1996 U.S. Womens'
Olympic Team got strait A's or had 4.0 grade averages, while doing 6-8 hours
of training 6 days a week (except Shannon Miller, who had a 3.96, but I guess
if I was the World Champion 2 years in a row, I couldn't have that either:) ).
On my page, I have lots of pictures that I have hand-picked out (and are the best!!)
and I'll add some other cool stuff soon, too. I particularly like Dina
Kochetkova, so I've honored her with her own personal picture page. One
cool thing about gymnastics that just goes to show the work that goes into it,
you can take a picture of a gymnast at just about any point in their routine,
and it looks like they posed just for that photo! :)
